Arguably the most important aspect of any video game is the controls and how the game responds to them, without proper controls, you don't have a proper game.
Controls are one of the few key components a video game has to have to be considered a video game, without them it would at the very best be considered a bad movie and in no way fun or interactive. One of the best things about video games is that you have a sense of control in them, and if you take that away then why even call it a video game.
Controls differ from game to game, but some games are tough but fair with their controls, while others spoon feed the gamers, and the type of game you like depends on who you are and what you like in a game, some prefer the teeth grinding frustration and level of skill games like Dark Souls or Monster Hunter require while others enjoy easier games such as Pokémon or the Lego games.
Video games that are extremely hard or difficult to control can be extremely frustrating to the player, and if you buy a game, you expect to be able to play it. It's sort of like if you went to a dealership to buy a car, and when you buy it the dealer doesn't tell you that the car can randomly swerve out of control on it's own, while the video game is less dangerous, it still would be frustrating to have bought something that randomly does rage inducing things when you're just trying to use it, and you know if you try and return it you'll probably get less money back than you paid.
To sum it up, a video game with no controls is like a knife with no tip, it's pointless, and a video game with bad controls is just stupid and frustrating.
